The stars align again for us cheap-ass gamers! Humble Bundle is once again raining mana upon us with a free copy of Warhammer: 40,000 Space Marine; no gimmicks, catches, or other bullshit because this game is yours for free forever. You do have to subscribe to the Humble newsletter but that's not a huge hoop to jump through and you can always unsubscribe later. I already receive the newsletter and it is an easy way to get news of hot deals at Humble Bundle so that's just my two cents. The game does require a Steam account to activate but at this point in history I doubt that's going to be a problem. Who doesn't use Steam? Anybody? I have my own thoughts on the platform but that's for another time.
Warhammer: Space Marine was developed by Relic Entertainment and released by THQ (now THQ Nordic) in 2011. According to the official game's website, "in Warhammer® 40,000® Space Marine® you are Captain Titus, a Space Marine of the Ultramarines chapter and a seasoned veteran of countless battles. A millions-strong Ork horde has invaded an Imperial Forge World, one of the planet-sized factories where the war machines for humanity’s never ending battle for survival are created. Losing this planet is not an option and be aware of the far more evil threat lurking large in the shadows of this world." Neat!
The game is a third-person hack-n-slash revolving around a combination of shooting and melee combat that's based on the Warhammer 40,000 universe developed by Games Workshop. The original Warhammer 40,000 is a tabletop miniature, tactical-warfare board game that's more of a hobby first than anything else. Players buy miniature models that they paint by hand and collect to amass armies for use during the board game. I've never been one to get into this type of gaming (my hands shake too much for me to paint such fine detail and my army would look like absolute shit as a result) so I can't vouch for the tabletop version; for me the video game universe is going to have to suffice. You have about a day left to grab your copy so don't delay as supply is limited. Do you play the tabletop version of the Warhammer games? Let us know your feats of valor in the comments below. As always, happy gaming!
